Ganderbal, Nov 14, KNT: The arrogance of a Superintendent Examination Centre here in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was on full display when he barred a student from appearing in 12th Class examination.
The examinations for 12th Class started on Saturday across Kashmir.
A student from Satruna village of Kangan was stuck in the traffic jam, arrived at the examination centre 10 minutes late and the Superintendent denied him entry into the examination room.
“I was supposed to appear in the Examination Center (34105) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kangan. I was stuck in traffic jam and arrived 10 minutes late. The Superintendent harassed me mentally. First, he demanded Covid-19 negative slip from nearby health centre. When I brought the same in a hurry and requested the Superintendent to allow him to sit in the examination, he refused and lost his cool when I started requesting him repeatedly and asked me to approach court or police,” the victim student Adil Ahmad Hajam Son of Sonallah Hajam, a resident of Satruna village told news agency KNT.
He said he along with his brother approached the office of Chief Education Officer and Board of School Education Ganderbal, but they only showed solidarity and regretted the conduct of the Superintendent without doing anything on ground.
“The officials in the respective offices admitted that it is injustice and I should approach the higher authorities,” he said.
Chairperson Board of School Education Veena Pandita said the matter will be investigated and action will be initiated against the Superintendent if he is found guilty. “I assure the said student that I will get the matter investigated. If any student reaches late 10 to 15 minutes due to unavoidable circumstances, he should be allowed to sit in the examination,” Veena Pandita told KNT.
Despite repeated attempts the Superintendent in question couldn’t be contacted. (KNT)
