The death overs in both the innings turned out to be difference between the two sides.

Defending 281, Shaheen Afridi cleaned up both the openers inside five overs.

The two senior batsmen – Taylor and Ervine – steadied the ship with a half-ton stand. Imad Wasim broke that partnership and Williams too perished cheaply. However, Zimbabwe decided to go down with a fight.

The experienced Taylor and the 20-year-old Madhevere stitched a superb century partnership for the fifth wicket.

While the former notched up his 11th ODI ton, Madhevere recorded his second half-century. It was a masterclass from the two Zimbabwe batters as they brought the equation down to ’48 runs in 5 overs’. However, Pakistan had the last laugh – courtesy fantastic death bowling by the two left-arm pacers.

They coupled the fast yorkers with the slower ones to superb effect and skittled out Zimbabwe with two balls to spare.
