DDC Elections: 13 candidates in fray for 6th phase from two Panchayat blocks in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 26 (KNO): As many as thirteen candidates have submitted their nomination papers to contest the District Development Council (DDC) elections from two Panchayat blocks of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district for 6th phase.
Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that 13 candidates have submitted nomination papers to contest the upcoming DDC elections during the 6th phase from Bandipora A and B panchayat blocks.
Bandipora A and B blocks will go to polls on December 13 during the 6th phase of DDC polls across Jammu and Kashmir.
An official said that notification for both the blocks was issued on November 19 while the last date for submitting the nomination papers and withdrawing the same was November 26 and December 01 respectively.
A total of 14 candidates had filed their nominations from both the blocks; however, one candidate withdrew his nomination today.
The official said that now 13 candidates are in the fray of which 07 candidates will be contesting the polls “independently” while the rest 6 will be contesting the polls on their respective party tickets.
He said that from Bandipora A block 7 candidates are in the fray to contest the DDC elections while 6 candidates will be contesting from Bandipora B block that is reserved for a woman candidate.
Notably, from Bandipora B block former MLA and senior PDP leader, Nizamuddin Bhat has fielded his nephew’s wife to represent PAGD from this block while former MLA and one of the founding members of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Usman Majeed has fielded his wife from Bandipora A block to represent JKAP.
Pertinently, the PAGD has fielded PDP and ANC candidates from Bandipora A and B blocks respectively as part of the seat-sharing pact of the alliance while the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party and the BJP have also fielded their candidates each from these blocks—(KNO)
