Weather Department Predicts Snowfall from Nov 13 to 15

Srinagar , Nov 11: The Meteorological Department has reiterated its forecast for rains and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir from November 13.

The Meteorological Department and the Agriculture Department have instructed farmers to be vigilant in view of climate change.

According , the department on Wednesday said that westerly winds will enter Jammu and Kashmir on November 13, which may lead to snowfall in the plains and mountainous areas.


According to the Meteorological Department, westerly winds will prevail from November 13 to 15, causing up to one to two inches of snow in the hilly areas of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, while moderate snowfall is expected in Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Gurez.

The Department of Meteorology and the Department of Agriculture have instructed the farmers to take reasonable steps in view of climate change.


In view of this forecast of the Meteorological Department, the provincial administration of Kashmir has issued a warning to the people to be vigilant while the Deputy Commissioners have been asked not to allow the movement of people during the possible snowfall.
The directives issued by the provincial administration has asked the people to take care of their livestock as well as orchards and orchards while the people living in the upper areas have been asked to take care of them during the snowfall. Use caution in transit to avoid the risk of falling rocks or sweat so as not to cause any casualties during the possible situation. The provincial commissioner has advised people to store food items and not try to move around during snowfall. The administration directed the concerned to remain fully active for the next few days in view of the weather forecast and maintain close liaison with the line departments. He said that control rooms have been set up at district and sub-district level day and night.
