Ganderbal, July 18 (KNO): MGNREGA employees association in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have demanded regularisation of the contractual MGNREGA employees and provide job security.
The association has urged the government to resolve their long pending demands and regularize them at an earliest.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) president district association MGNREGA, Ganderbal, SheikH Irfan said that employees working under MGNREGA are still waiting for the regularization since last 10 years and have been working without any job security due to which the employees are in mental trauma.
“Successive governments have fooled us and the promises of regularization of the employees proved a hoax.”
The employees have been demanding the enhancement in their basic salary, regularization and framing of job policy.
An employee said that hundreds of posts in RDD are lying vacant and they are appealing to the government to appoint them against these vacant posts as they have been working in the department since 2005.
“Highly educated youth have been working in MGNREGA with full dedication in RDD for years on a meagre honorarium that is not enough to support their families,” he said and urged the lieutenant governor GC Murmu to regularise their services without any further delay.
They employees association said that a proposal was submitted by RDD to government of Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2018 for the absorption of contractual employees in the department but till date there has been no further exercise by the authorities, thus putting the career of thousands at stake—(KNO)
