Srinagar, Jun 28 (GNS): At least twelve people received injuries amid arrangements for last rites of a minor girl killed by lightening earlier this evening in Manahai Mohalla of Buffliaz sector in Poonch.

Reports reaching GNS said that, soon after the news related to the death of Uffaq Akhter spread, people from the adjacent areas thronged the venue to participate in the last rites.

In a bid to condole the bereaved family amid arrangements for last rites, many villagers forced their entry to the house, however in the meantime house collapsed resulting in injuries to at least twelve people.

Confirming the incident, DySP Surankote told GNS that “Soon after the news spread people from adjacent areas thronged the venue to participate in the last rites”, adding “However such an overwhelming was not anticipated .”

“Many of the locals entered the house to condole the bereaved family, however the house collapsed soon after due to heavy rush”, the official said.

“At least twelve people have sustained injuries in the incident, of which four were evacuated to SDH Surankote for treatment”, he said adding “Eight of them with minor injuries are under treatment at a local health centre.”

Pertinent to mention here that a minor-girl was killed and three others received injuries after a lightening struck in Manahai Mohalla of Behram Galla village in Buffliaz sector of the frontier district. (GNS)
