Militant module busted in Ramban, two JeM operatives arrested: Police

Ramban, Jan 18 (KNO): Police on Monday claimed to have busted a militant module in Ramban district by arresting two valley-based militant operatives and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession.

“District Police Ramban jointly with SOG Jammu busted a militant module today by arresting two valley based militant operatives and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession,” police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Police said that initial investigation revealed that two militant operatives identified as Umar Ahmed Malik, son of Abdul Ahmed Malik and Suhail Ahmed Malik, son of Muhammad Yaseen Malik—both residents of Semthan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district were working under a militant plot hatched by Kashmir based militant and their Pakistan based JeM handler Aqib @ Alfa from Budgam calandistenly travelled from Kashmir to the International Border at Vijaypur, Samba and received arms and ammunition dropped with the help of drones.

Recoveries include two AK-74, one Pistol, 16 grenades, nine Ak-Magazines, 296 live bullets and two magazines, police said, adding that further investigation of the militant module is going on—(KNO)
