Army evacuates elderly woman patient to hospital amid snowfall in Bandipora

Bandipora, Jan 09 (KNO): Army on Saturday said that it evacuated an elderly woman patient to district hospital from Buthoo village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district amid snowfall and extreme weather conditions.

In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official spokesperson said that Buthoo Army Camp of Bandipora RR Army received a distress phone call from one Gulam Mohammad Reshi, resident of Buthoo for evacuation of his wife aged 74 years for medical emergency to district hospital.

“The hospital is located at a distance of around 14 kms from his residence.” He said that the elderly woman was suffering from very high fever and stomach ache and was not able to get evacuated because of heavy snowfall and extreme weather conditions.

“The jawans of Buthoo Camp immediately reached the spot and without wasting any time the soldiers evacuated the woman on a modified stretcher,” he said, adding that the soldiers carried the woman for almost 8 kms amid heavy snowfall on their shoulders.

“After reaching the road head, the Bandipora RR also arranged the evacuation of the lady to district hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, the locals applauded the timely response by Bandipora RR and praised their ever supportive and humane approach towards the public—(KNO)
