Kulgam, Apr 11 : After brief exchange of fire, the militants who were hiding in Nandimarg village of D H Pora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district managed to escape, leaving behind a Pica rifle and 150 grams of RDX like material.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), officials said that no contact was established with militants after a brief exchange of fire took place in the village in the intervening night of Friday-Saturday at around 1:30 am

However, the forces intensified search operation in the area to trace the militants. But, the militants hiding in the village as per officials managed to give forces a slip.

The encounter had raged between forces and militants, after a joint team of forces including Army’s 09 RR, 18Bn CRPF and Kulgam Police launched search operation in the area, officials said, adding that as forces intensified search operation towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.

As per the official handout issued to KNO, police said that the militants took advantage of darkness and escaped from the spot and left behind one Pica rifle bearing registration No 2380 and 150 grams of RDX like material.

In this connection, a case under FIR number 43/2020 under section 307 IPC, 3/4 EXP substance Act, 7/25,7/27A Act, 16, 18, 20, 38, 39 ULAP Act has been registered at Police Station D H Pora, police said, adding that the investigation has also been started in this regard. However, police said that the search is still on to trace the militants –(KNO)
